Phyllostachys nigra 'Henon'
Another one of our favorites, P. nigra 'Henon' is a terrific screening bamboo. With its dense foliage and long, arching limbs (~ 2.5ft), 'Henon' provides excellent screening density. 'Henon' is a giant bamboo, reaching 60 feet in height and 4 inches in culm diameter at maturity. Stately, tree-like and very soothing to the eye, P. nigra 'Henon' takes approx. 25 years to reach its mature size, providing exceptional screening coverage as it matures. As the grove grows, its shaded culms turn 'cool' gray, creating the stunning effect seen, below. Cold hardy to -5 degrees F.
